Romeo Neri Pieces from the Past

The hall of the Rio Grande of Ustaria Clumber Igea Marina host an unbelievable event: the gathering of the competitive team of gymnastics Romeo Neri of Rimini, 1968 class, after 43 years of separation.
Mirco Fabbri organized the event but was unable to contact Cesare Antonioli, Massimo Zavattini, Roberto Blasi, Roberto Giannini, Renzo Sartini, Vittorio Servedio, Luigi Pellizzola, Paolo Mussoni, Marco Pizzioli, Massimo Bagnolini, Davide Casadei, Carlo Dardari, Vincenzo Ferrini, Emanuele Marchi, Guido Francini and Paola Lucchi. In 1968 they trained at the Romeo Neri stadium. Their team, coached by Romano Neri, Sergio Luconi and Francesco Gemmani, with the support of William Pellizzoli for ten years, had many successes at national level.
In 1970 and 1971 the gymnasts were team Italian champions In 1971 they won the Buriani Cup, a coveted trophy that was missing in Rimini for twenty years. In 1975, Guido Francini and Maurizio Neri, among the best gymnasts of the national team won the Corrias Mario cup. Francini made several international meetings, Zavattini also wore the blue shirt and Emanuele Amenta became the Italian junior champion in 1976 . After the conquest of these great achievements the group has been gradually diminishing, and everyone went on their own way. Only Roberto Blasi and Luigi Pellizzoli continued their career as gymnasts, and now in the role of coaches, they teach at the Polisportiva Celle in via Euterpe, the only gym in Rimini that deals with artistic gymnastics as a sport.
