Rituals for St. Joseph Day

The tradition of the bonfire before the feast of St. Joseph, has its roots in ancient Celtic rituals such as asking to the summer to make a favorable harvest. In fact the bonfires of St. Joseph symbolize the end of the cold winter and the early spring. The preparation of Romagna fogheracce or fugarine, the dialect names of bonfires, has always been a ritual. The material necessary for the bonfires is usually consisting of old furniture, rags and the proceeds of pruning.
Rimini will kick off the camp fire at 8.30 pm. The fogheracce will take place in the beach of Marina Centre accompanied by traditional fair of St. Joseph. There will also be a bonfire from 8.30 pm in Conca and Valmarecchia. Santarcangelo will light the bonfire at 8.30 pm in the park of the Museum Entografico, with mulled wine, lots of music and stories of the "Passioninsieme" group.
