MotoGP Blocked the Traffic on the Riviera

MotoGP Traffic Riviera

MotoGP and the bad weather were the causes of the traffic collapse on the Riviera especially between Rimini and Cattolica.

Yesterday many motorcycle enthusiasts had to deal with the traffic in order to attend the Grand Prix of San Marino, while many tourists were returning due to bad weather in the city. This has contributed to a traffic collapse on the Riviera. At 9 o'clock the streets were already busy, and because of five incidents in just over two hours, the road A14 between north Rimini and Cattolica was completely blocked. The highway was closed for about half an hour creating queues of 9 kilometers. The situation worsened after the end of the MotoGP races, when about 50 000 people in cars and motorbikes decided to return home. The police traffic and 120 volunteers of Civil Defence struggled to direct the traffic which slowed down only after 7 pm.
