Imola Circuit Reopens

The GP2 is not Formula One, but the reopening of the Imola circuit brings joy to fans of cars and engines in general. The circuit is named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari and will host after five years the GP2 race in order to recover in Santerno the competition Bahrein Asia Serie, set aside for political reasons.

Imola was involved in exciting events like the amazing victory of the Red driven by Tambay and Schumacher, and the fierce duel between the rustic Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi, in 1982. And the last act of the San Marino Grand Prix, where Schumacher in 2006 won a breathtaking duel with an opponent known as Fernando Alonso. Imola was also witness to two unforgettable tragedies, the deaths of Senna and Ratzenberger in 1994.

After 2006, the circuit was closed because it was no longer considered appropriate but a victim of a precarious financial position. Today it has been renovated and has a new infrastructure for the cars and drivers. Imola is ready to return in the historic race circuit.
