Alessandro Caltrani i a very passionate lawyer about the history of Rimini who has made an amazing discovery while attending the philatelic and numismatic conference of Riccione. Caltrani has found old photos of Rimini dated back in 1900.

Among the exhibitors at the conference of Riccione, Caltrani found an album containing photos of some old Italian cities, including some photos of Rimini. The 130 photos belong to an army officer who commanded the Castelfidardo barracks, and were taken between 1898 and 1900. The photos are very precious because they show the life of the military and the building of the barracks of Castelfidardo, which today have very little historical evidence. Caltrani says that they might be the only remaining photos that depict the barracks, because until now was only postcards were found. The photos tell the story of the life during military exercises, and portray the sea tours of the soldiers together with their families, and some glimpses of Rimini in early 1900.
