Thanks to the climate of this year in Rimini it is time for the grape harvest. Growers estimate that this year 300 thousand tons of grapes will be collected and 60% of it will be transformed into wine.
For several days the white grapes harvest began, grapes that due to weather conditions this year will get fresh and fruity wines, with the right balance between acidity and sugar. The red grape harvest will be carried out between late September and early October. Red grapes will produce high quality wines such as Sangiovese.
The Provincial Councillor for Agriculture, Jamil Sadegholvaad, explains that red wines produced in Rimini are high quality wines thanks to the features of the hilly land, the soil composition and the proximity to the sea. 60% of the wine produced from the 2010 harvest will become "wine doc" with "Colli di Rimini" and "doc Romagna”. Among the wines produced in Rimini, Sangiovese which occupies 65% of the cultivated land. Other significant vines are: Trebbiano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Biancame, Merlot, Chardonnay and Rebola.
