First Beekeepers Association in Rimini

Angelo Dettori said: "Beekeepers Association Montefeltro Rimini" was created primarily to defend their hives, difficult to manage, especially after the onset parasite Varroa arrived in Italy for some years, a parasite that reproduces in the cells and continuously kills family of bees.
This parasite caused two years ago the death of more than 70% of hives in the province of Rimini. The association was founded in order to avoid another tragedy of this scale and is intended to serve as a conduit for individual beekeepers and the world of local administration, provincial and regional health and veterinary sector.
The province of Rimini has about 150 beekeepers registered at Ausl, without regard to non-members, who run 4150 hives and four companies surveyed professionals, such as that Dettori which produces annually over 150 tons of honey.
Angelo Dettori, founder of the beekeepers in Rimini, began his career as a beekeeper in 1985, after leaving the job of accountant in Rimini as it did not satisfy him. The 51 year old native of Sardinia, has constructed a building in the hills of Montescudo green building, which now manages 400 hives and produces eight different types of honey: wildflower, acacia, chestnut, sunflower, eucalyptus, forest honeydew, lime and cilantro. Dettori said that the beekeeper means working very hard, but it also offers many satisfactions. His honey is strictly organic and the manufacturing uses techniques for collecting and very stringent checks, according to EC regulations. Also, he does not use chemicals to combat pests.
