The Story of Enaiatollah - a Life Lesson for the Cildren of Novafeltria

Fabio Geda, author of "In the sea there are crocodiles," told the true story of Enaiatollah Akbari, an Afghan boy and symbol of the child labor. The pupils of the school of Novafeltria were very touched by his sad story, fortunately with a happy ending, and were happy to have met in person the protagonist of the book on November 29 last year.

Enaiat was born in Afghanistan, perhaps in 1988 and his birth was not recorded to the registry. He had a hard life,and after his father's death " , a slave carrying goods for a company. After his death in the workplace, the owner of the company wanted as a compensation Enaiat and his brother. The two brothers have gone into hiding for a long time, with the help of his mother. As his mother could no longer guarantee their security, decided with great pain to send Enait in Pakistan. After having made the promise that he would never steal, use drugs and arms, she left him to follow his fate. At the age of 10 the small Enait began working in a hotel and he was an illegal immigrant. At 11 he moved to Iran hid in the trunk of the pik-up of some smugglers, where he worked as a bricklayer.

Unfortunately he was discovered and repatriated to Pakistan, twice. He has always managed to return to Iran, until he decided to take a long, arduous and dangerous journey across the mountains to reach Turkey. Once arrived at the destination, he began to work in a factory with stones. Looking for a better future Enait has embarked on a raft to travel to Greece. The trip was dangerous and painful because he saw his best friend drowned. He miraculously arrived on the Greek coast where he was rescued by a lady who brought him to his house, dressed him, fed him and paid the ticket to get to Athens. Here he got into a truck with 17 other people traveling to Italy. Arriving in Venice he met two cyclists that they paid him the ticket to Rome, where he managed to contact a friend of Afghanistan that led him to the immigration office. After staying in a community, he was adopted by a family with whom he still lives today. Enaiatollah is now happy, working and attending school. Despite his sad history, he consideres himself a very lucky person. For us, however his story is a great lesson of life.
