Tuesday, September 21 is a date which will become historic for the city. After 54 years the Air Force will finally leave the airport of Rimini .

All the means and about 120 men of 83 ° Sar will be moving to Cervia, with the HH-3F helicopters used for search and rescue at sea and in the mountains, and most of the 140 militaries of the detachment of military aeronautics. The SAR will be moving in Cervia from Pratica di Mare with the Command of Wing/ Comando di Stormo. In Rimini only the staff of the detachment assigned to the control tower, the radar service of Romagna and the weather station will remain.

Hundreds of young people of Rimini - and not only - have served the military airport of Rimini. The Air Force has greatly facilitated the takeoff of a civil airport, which contributed in strengthening of the economy of the city.
