Walnut Festival Saludecio: This autumn festival, which probably began last century, is linked to the cultivation of walnuts which was once very popular in this area.
However, celebrations are also linked to the figure of the Blessed Amato, and to the “Hospitales” or pilgrims’ house that he built in the 13th century on the outskirts of the main town and to the Franciscan tradition of the “walnut hunt”.
Celebrations are held on the second Sunday of October in what is now the nursing home and in the annexed 18th Century oratory, the oldest remaining part of the religious building, which has recently been restored.
