Italia in Miniatura is the unusual and unforgettable theme park where the Italian historical, architectural and cultural heritage turn to real fun, blended with learning.
Founded in 1970, it welcomes yearly a number over 500,000 people of all ages, from Italy and abroad visit the park every year, to set on a comprehensive “tour” of Italy and admire its wonders, which can be impressive even if …petite: the core of the theme park is in fact a unique open air display of over 270 perfect scale reproductions of architectural marvels of the Beautiful Country and of part of Europe, surrounded by distinctive greenery which is one of the park features.
Italia in Miniatura never ceases growing and renovating: around the miniature area many more theme areas have been added through the years to appeal to the different tastes of a vast public, but each of them makes a unique experience. Children are the most demanding and liveliest public but they line up quietly to try Interactive Driving School a feature of Italia in Miniatura on a world exclusive basis, is an amusing way to learn about rules of traffic and save driving: children from 6 to 12 are brought through a real driving class and awarded with a real driving licence ! Lovers of discoveries and inventions will be happy to know they can go to the Science Fun Fair, and have a whole interactive laboratory of physics at their disposal! Thrill lovers will swarm to feel they heart leap while darting down the rapids on logs on Canoe, while Sling Shot breathtaking acceleration launches up to 55 mt in little more than a second, and bounces back down for endless seconds! A more scenic and smooth mid-air tour is offered by Rainbow Monorail train!
Excitement pours at Cannonacqua, the 1:3 scale reproduction of the Malatestan Fortress of Castel Sismondo in Rimini, where towers and ramparts are equipped with dozens of water cannons: a very sought-after attraction in the summer heat, when visitors engage in mock-battles and medieval sieges whose aim is… drenching the enemy!
The ultimate picturesqueness of Venice makes it the most suggestive attraction at Italia in Miniatura: the 1:5 scale reproduction of the Grand Canal is a neverending display of palace façades bridges and beauty, accompanied by ambient music and sounds. You can meet Casanova while gliding along in a real gondola, just before getting down at Piazza San Marco, right in front of the basilica. Piazza Italia is the centre of the parks events and shows, but it hides funny animated characters behind the houses windowsm ready to lean out in no time.
